Metro Allwrite!

Metro Allwrite! runs for five days, Monday 14 th to Friday18th. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are the Primary All-Star days, when we present the most popular of authors in the Schools’ Primary age groups, in Meet the Writer sessions and Interactive Workshops. For more information, check out the Metro Allwrite! Planner.

Come and meet Catherine Jinks, who loves to talk about her novels of historical and fantasy fiction, and Elizabeth Hutchins, who always sets her books in places she knows and loves. Have fun with Stephen Michael King, who cannot remember a time he didn’t want to draw, and whose picture books have been dramatized and will be seen during Come Out 2005.

Thursday and Friday of Metro Allwrite! are special days; Thursday 17th is devoted to Illustrators, Cartoonists and Digital artists, and we’ve called it From Doodle to Digital.

Many factors have contributed to the growth and development of Australian Illustrators of books for young people, over the last 20 years or so.  More publishers, literary magazines, and prizes devoted to children’s literature are just some of the reasons we have such high quality book art in Australia. From Doodle to Digital will celebrate book art in a day of meeting and talking to some of our most highly regarded illustrators, and the opportunity to engage in workshops with your favourite book artist. Come to a workshop with Digital artist Carol McLean- Carr and she will guide you to draw on a PC, or meet David Kennett, the wonderful wildlife illustrator.

On Friday 18 th the day will be devoted to the genre of Fantasy and Sci-Fi writing. The ever-increasing popularity of this style of fiction led to dedicating a full day to hearing and working with the best writers in this field. The day is Sci-Fantastic! Don’t miss it!

You will be enthralled by Sean Williams in Conversation with Isobelle Carmody and Glenn Lumsden. Glenn is well-known for his cartoons in Phantom Comics, Adelaide-based Sean Williams by his work on Star Wars books plus many others, and Isobelle Carmody for her award-winning Obernewtyn series.
