“The attendance rate at the school was the highest it had been all year, which emphasises the importance of arts in the community.”

March 2003, Streaky Bay Area School

Be My Guest is an initiative whereby companies, businesses, organisations and individuals can the change lives of disadvantaged South Australian school children.

Since 1974, Come Out has been providing rewarding arts experiences for school students and their families. Despite attracting thousands of students to participate, there are many students who have not had the opportunity to attend a Come Out performance or workshop.

The reason for this is simple: Many students and their families cannot afford the price of the tickets together with transport costs (an average of $15 per child). Children attending schools in lower socio economic areas miss out on a chance to participate in the festival and thereby enjoy wonderful performances from around Australia and the world.

As little as $100 will see an average of 7 school students attend a performance or workshop, which otherwise would be beyond their means. A larger donation means the entire class can go! To find out more about how you can make a difference, contact Be My Guest Co-ordinator, Karen Wilson, or read the electronic Be My Guest brochure.
