“The inaugural River Walk took place as part of Come Out 2003 and was fully registered almost immediately. River Walk combines the excitement of a procession and gathering of young people, with the beauty and safety of the river. Most importantly it showcases young people’s creativity in a high profile public event.”
Come Out Festival Director Sally Chance

River Walk is back in a colourful swirl of humanity, celebrating the festival theme, Being Human.
River Walk participants will create their own culture at school, learn the moves, chant the chant and build totemic art works of great beauty.
On the day, the pathways alongside the precious waters of the River Torrens will lead to Elder Park, Come Out’s traditional meeting place.
Along the way, festival walkers will pass through strange portals, enticed by an array of arts happenings.
As the walking rivers of young people converge, a ceremony will celebrate their unity, sending them into Come Out 2005.
Register early to avoid disappointment! Due to the participatory nature of this event, schools MUST register and coordinating teachers must attend one of the River Walk Professional Development Workshops. Ring the Arts Education Manager, Suzanne Donovan, on 08 8267 5929.
