The Upside Down and Inside Out of “Bounce”!

Event Details

“Play belongs to the child and as such it appears to be inconsistent with the principle of serious work. But without play, no seriously creative work has ever come to be” Carl Jung.

Inspired by the books of Stephen Michael King, a group of artists meeting as “Purple Patch” have been working with Sturt Street Community School on child-initiated projects exploring the possibilities of BOUNCE. Discover what’s possible when children are empowered to use performance as a means of communication.

“The child has a hundred languages … a hundred hands … a hundred thoughts … a hundred ways of thinking, of playing, of speaking, a hundred ways of listening, of marvelling, of loving … The child has a hundred languages … but we steal ninety nine.” From a poem by Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood learning.
