Human Zoo

Selected by Education Outreach Officer, John Neylon

Event Details

Come and see the Art Gallery’s really amazing collection of human creatures: King Head Chopper, Francis the Bird Hugger, Circe the All Powerful, Sad Suzy the Shirt Sewer, Skeleton Man, the Red-Eyed Ghoul, Martin the Merciful, Wesla the Washerwoman, Mud Face, Atlanta the Fastest Woman in the World, plus the Skinniest Man, hunky Greek heroes, crazy explorers, wild colonials and beautiful mermaids.

Human Zoo is a self-guided Look and Learn adventure trail for mid to upper primary students. Using a Human Zoo resource pack, teachers with their groups follow a map to discover some members of the Gallery’s extended family. Challenge questions and games encourage the students to engage with these works and in the process think about what it takes to be human.
