“This cross art form collaboration is made by some of the most inventive and radical puppeteers and dance makers in Australia. Baggy Pants uses minimal spoken word, which means that its ability to communicate visually and musically will appeal to children of a range of styles and backgrounds.”
Come Out Festival Director Sally Chance
Baggy Pants is an adventure about friends and allies set in a world of clothing.
Baggy Pants desperately follows his little friend Singlet as she is swept away by a mysterious wire Hanger that tunes into the outside world and promises adventure. Both have adventures beyond belief as they near the City and the terror of the Creature who rules it. Who is a friend and who is an enemy? How can you tell amongst Opera Singing Coats, Itchy Jumpers, Dancing Pants and Flying Babies?
Created in close consultation with young children, with a sound track inspired by their voices and ideas, Baggy Pants combines dance, music and puppetry in an imaginative world where clothes are the land, the sea, the sky and the population.
Polyglot is renowned for creating magical theatre in which ordinary objects construct extraordinary worlds. Don’t miss this opportunity to catch Melbourne based Polyglot in their special festival tour to South Australia.
