Professional Development - Crank!

Here is a great opportunity to challenge your students through film making. Cameras don’t make films. It’s the people behind them who put the stories onto the screen.

Crank! is a project initiated and developed by Stephen Noonan and Andy Packer in 1999. Following its inaugural success, Crank! is now the Come Out Festival’s biennial invitation to children and young people across South Australia to make a short film or animation, incorporating a mystery object that’s only announced on registration.

Teacher-led or independent student teams can register for the competition. Details can be found in the Come Out 2007 Program Guide.

The categories include:

  • Edited Films
  • Unedited Films
  • Animations

Finalists in each category will have their films shown at the Mercury Cinema on Thursday 10 May at 11am and 1 pm.

Register now by contacting the Festival’s Arts Education Manager, Leonie Sawley, tel (08) 8267 5929. The deadline for registration is Monday 19 February 2007. Once registered you are supported by the Come Out Festival with information and ideas to help you realise your screen vision.

Join award winning, professional film makers Jennifer Lyons Reid and Carl Kuddell from tallstoreez productionz for a hands-on day of short film making. Learn tips and techniques for getting a film on screen, from first idea to finished film.
